INITIATIVES

ATHE carries out a wide range of activities designed to further the interests of tourism in higher education. The main activities include:

  • the organisation of an annual conference
  • the representation of the group to government agencies and others
  • the production of guidelines of good practice
  • liaison with other subject groups (e.g. CHME)

One of the most significant recent activities was the national consultation exercise that ATHE carried out on behalf of the QAA to agree and author subject benchmarks for tourism degrees. David Airey, David Botterill and Brian Wheeller authored the tourism specific sections for the Unit 25 benchmark group.
